Somers Town

A new film 'Somers Town directed by Shane Meadows, produced by Mother Vision for Eurostar. This is a new type of branding, beyond product placement, where the whole story evolves around Eurostars core values and product - high speed trains and London St Pancras Station.

“Brands are in a position - like never before - to connect or build relationships in more interesting" Mother Vision,

I think this could well be the way forward for some brands, looking to establish their credibility on a long term basis. The use of the brand is very subtle - apparently it is not really mentioned at all but the place - the newly redeveloped station features. The fact the brand isn't shoved down the throats of the views in an obvious brash manner is refreshing and I feel this will bring greater goodwill to the brand (on a personal level I am impressed at Eurostars bravery supporting a full film and taking the backseat, letting the film shine)

It could however be argued that this is another example of subliminal marketing, a dangerous tool, and could cause eurostar to appear sneaky and untrustworthy.

I enjoyed some of his other flicks, you know if this ones any good?

I come from a place called Summertown, so I'm thinking this will be wicked!

I've not actually had a chance to see it yet, although reviews look good, not that that means that much...

Fingers crossed it'll be another treat, sure it will be.

You don't like trusting reviews?! I guess you're right, someone else's opinion doesn't often = your own. Though if you find a specific critic you trust that must help, my brother goes on about Philip French. I pretty much am always up for watching a movie, so don't mind taking the good with the bad!

Watched No Country For Old Men (again) last night, still loved it. Though, call me old fashioned, but I wouldn't have minded a slightly [/completely] different ending.

Will you be joining the film society next year? I did the posters for them a few years back, showed some pretty good films. Think I saw Serpico there, classic stuff.

I haven't really thought about joining, I have a limited taste in films (not scary!) so that puts me off. I'm sure there not all scary but still!
Are you starting 3rd year this September?

Yep, can't wait – should be pretty fun to be back at Uni after the year away
