Tinkebell

Katinka Simonse aka Tinkebell is an artist from the Netherlands, who 'researches the issues of contemporary populist movements, including animal rights activism, and their strategies. Hypocrisy within these movements and discourses is the main focus point of her work.'

Katinka Simonse uses sculpture and performance to express herself. Some of her ongoing projects on her website examine our attitude towards pets. A powerful piece is 'popple' which plays on a 1980's toy which could be turned inside out, animals are too often mistreated and treated like toys. It is visually very powerful, and provocative, using real animal skins.

i saw that 'popple' some time ago and i agree it's really effective! though it made me a bit sad and shocked.. but at least people will realise how some animals are treated.
