The brand museum in London is somewhere I shall have to go very soon, unfortunately I've not had a chance to go to London this holiday but hopefully a cheap train ticket will come my way soon.
This museum documents branding, advertising and packaging, and is the brain child of Robert Opie, a consumer historian. The pieces span all genres including food, toys, newspapers and fashion.
The early packaging interests me most as it has a more personal, engaging feeling to it because of the printing processes, the imperfections and simplicity of the design. The hand rendered quality has a more human feel to it, which appeals more to me especially in this digital age. Processes were more mechanical and solid, and although I really appreciate how quick and easy digitisation has made working in the creative industries I feel it may have devalued advertising and packaging from the art form it is.

I would love to go and see this museum. I love the old school packaging of food products. It does have a more natural, organic feel in comparison to the modern packaging.
However it is interesting to see how the brand name has become a much more important and bolder aspect of packaging, in comparison to older packaging design.
